The next question: how are you the same and what are you doing that resonates with the you and your approach to healing from a year ago?
Key takeaway: Nothing about me is the same as it was a year ago, in fact nothing about me is the same as it was even just a month ago, and my entire approach to healing is different. However I still do a lot of the same practical things I used to do, because they’re good for any body, ill or not. But I do them in a different way: I’m not obsessive any more, I do them now, with love and care for myself and my body, not from fear.
To keep the video short I didn’t include the specifics around what I do/don’t do, so here they are:
I no longer use THC/CBD, the How to Starve Cancer Protocol, or anything medical other than the hormone blockers (see previous video on that). I’m not opposed to these things, and am considering whether to continue using some of them to help my body. But the difference this time is that I would be using them as assistance to my approach, rather than viewing them as the silver bullet that will save me.
I absolutely love my rebounder: it’s good for the lymphatic system, which is how the body naturally detoxes. I have a playlist that makes me happy and I listen to it every morning whilst I rebound for 15 minutes. Sometimes I do it twice/three times a day. BTW, it’s good to do this 30 minutes after food as it reduces the insulin spike in your blood - less sugar in the system essentially.
I’m trying to get back to an average of 10,000 steps a day, but it’s hard sometimes, with the fatigue and the weather here. There’s tons of evidence that gentle regular movement throughout the day is better than vigorous movement and then sitting on your backside all day.
I’m a huge believer in weight-training for menopausal women, and will get back to that when I’m more settled in. It’s good for bone strength and the brain, both areas that are most affected by the reduction of hormones during menopause.
I eat well, but I’m not neurotic about it. So I still eat loads of veggies - especially broccoli and all things green. I eat blueberries/blackberries every day, and I drink green tea/matcha - all the things that are high in polyphenols. I don’t eat any processed foods, I’ve cut out sugar, except fruit - there’s lots of controversy about fruit and whether it counts as sugar or not - I’ve checked in with myself and my body wants apples, bananas, dates, and berries, so I eat them. I eat lots of good fats (nuts, seeds, avocado, ground flaxseed, olive oil) and avoid all vegetable oils (canola oil, palm oil etc). I eat organic. I’ve left vegan behind and am now more Mediterranean - fish once a week, chicken once a week. I still find that tough foods like chicken create pain in my liver, which is why I only eat them every now and then, my body still prefers softer foods. I eat fermented foods like sauerkraut and kimchi because they’re good for your gut - which is where a lot of your immune system and your internal happiness is created. In spite of my hating celery juice initially, I’ve grown to love it and it feels good in my body, so as soon as I have my juicer back I’ll be doing that again - it’s currently in a container at a dock in Melbourne. The big change is that if I go to someone’s house and they’ve made me something I don’t normally eat, but it’s made with love, I eat the thing and soak up the love.
I only drink filtered water. I’d like to experiment with alkaline water, but it’s expensive, so exploring options to make it. In the meantime I drink a cup of baking soda in the morning.
I don’t take tons of supplements anymore, but I’m a huge believer in Chinese mushrooms, so I do Turkey Tail (immune system support), Lion’s Mane (mental clarity), Reishi (central nervous system support), Chaga (anti-cancer properties), Cordyceps, Maitake, Shiitake, every morning. If you can’t afford all of them the priorities would be the first 4 on that list. I also take probiotics/prebiotics because I’ve had so much chemo, radio, antibiotics, and these all affect your immune system/gut performance.
I don’t drink alcohol, because my main healing focus is my liver. I had 2 glasses of my favourite champagne at my leaving party, and that was the first time I had had a drink in a year. I throughly enjoyed it, but I won’t drink again for a good while.
I don’t use any products on my body, my washing, or in the house, that aren’t entirely natural. I wash my face with brown sugar, and use only pure oils to moisturise. I don’t wear make-up, use deodorant, wear perfume, do my nails, use hair products.
I try to get sunlight on my skin and into my eyes every day - unsurprisingly that’s very very hard here in the UK. It’s rained almost every day since I got here. This is for the Vitamin D benefits, and because it resets the circadian rhythm, which means you sleep better and feel better. I’m actually going to get a Vitamin D supplement now I’m here because it’s strongly associated with hundreds of processes in the body that are all really good for your health and your happiness.
I believe sleep heals everything and I’m asleep by 9.30/10 latest, and aim for 9 hours if I can. Harder here at the moment because it’s really light until late and then the sun rises at 4.30am. I take melatonin every night to make sure I get into deep sleep where the healing happens.
I love an epsom salt bath: for detoxing, but also for good sleep. Ignore the advice on the packet, and put the whole lot in the bath.
I do energy healing on a regular basis - over Zoom - with a guy who’s an absolute genius healer. We clear out my chakras, heal my organs, clean up my energy fields, remove entities that have no permission to be there.
I’m looking for an acupuncturist over here: it’s magic, a massively under-rated modality for helping the body to return to it’s natural state.
I love infra-red saunas and cold showers. The sauna is for detox but also creates healthy stress in the body and signals a ‘get-better’ response, as do cold showers, cold plunges, cold therapies.
I avoid all stress, drama, people, and situations that feel bad in my body. I actively choose not to care about most things. I don’t watch things on TV, or in the news, that disturb my peace. I’ve created a bubble around myself and stay in it as much as possible.
I focus on the Miracle of Life: the joy of it all. I dance around the house, I’m booking my first holiday in 5 years, I laugh a lot. I still say Thank You for this day, every morning and every night.
I hug people a lot and hold on tight so I can feel their heart, and fully receive the love that is being offered. And I send it back too - because then it becomes a wonderful beautiful circular thing that builds on itself.
My spiritual practise is central to my life, I couldn’t live without it. I meditate 1-2 hours every day. I’m still ‘doing the work’ on myself: finding all the bits of me that aren’t entirely at peace, the wounds that need to heal, forgiveness that I could do better at, anger that needs to come out, there are tears to cry, and trauma from the last few years that I’m releasing to allow for healing to take place. I focus every day on being more loving, creating love in my body, moving towards knowing myself as love. I get a lot of support from Ori, who several of you have asked about, and from my support team on the other side. We’re doing an interview next week on what that’s all about, which I’ll aim to publish next weekend.
Thankfulness practise: I sent out a practise a few weeks ago, which I did for myself. It’s very powerful to be able to accept fully everything that has happened in your life, however hard it might have been. I am Thankful for everything that has happened to me these last 3.5 years, and I wouldn’t change a thing, because it’s all brought me closer to love. Viewing it this way creates a feeling of peace in my body.
I’m working on my finances as I’d like to take a year out to just focus on healing. This thing is going to take some time.
And Dogs! They’re the best healers, they make everything ok, and keep me totally in the moment.
Of course none of this constitutes medical advice - and remember, ever body is different, every human is different. So what works for me might not work for you and vice-versa. There are tons of other things you can do that aren’t on this list for instance - breathwork, oxygen therapy, yoga, karma clearing, womb work, lymphatic drainage massage, the list of modalities now is endless. Tune in and ask yourself what you need, and then give it to yourself.
I’ll end by saying that I believe all of these things should be affordable to everyone and made available in our medical systems. In fact many of these things should be tried first before medical intervention, or alongside medical intervention. Health shouldn’t be only for those who have money.
Much love 💜💜💜
